I was much better on ice skates than I ever was on roller skates. A friend's dad always made a rink in the backyard, but we skated down the streets too. It has been decades since I skated. If memory serves we were skating right after walking.
Yep, gravity is a harsh mistress throughout life.
I wish I could skate. I did as a kid but I haven't since. K is a marvel on skates.
Though all I have time for now is yoga. Or all I am trying to make time for is yoga.
Happy shriftday!
K claims that she can teach any kid who can walk to also skate.
You know how coordinated I am, and I could ice skate pretty well. I learned the same way Sparky did, except that it never occurred to my father to give my mother a break. Ice skating is much easier than roller skating, and I learned on frozen lakes and rivers, which are softer to fall on than concrete or ice over concrete. My main trauma was that my parents wouldn't buy me hockey skates. I really missed ice skating when we moved south.
Yeah, I was always better at ice skating than roller skating, at least until roller blades came along.
My parents always thought it was such a weird thing-- little Cuban-American girl from Miami so in love with ice skating, but it was my passion for years.
Timelies all!
Happy Birthday shrift!
My dance group is performing at a 12th night celebration tonight. Whee.
Happy Birthday Shrift.
I just can't get motivated today. Also, mailman tried to deliver a package as I was in the shower. I could have caught him if I was willing to run out int he snow in my PJs, but I'll just pick it up tomorrow.
I am still in my PJs.
