That's beautiful. Or taken literally, incredibly gross.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Sweet -- I just got an "emergency" work call, and not only did I know all about it, I have handled it already. I just didn't tell anyone else that I had.

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

At the rate we're going, I think we're going to have enough recipes for another Buffista cookbook, soon. I've bookmarked all the latke recipes. Yum!

"What kind of magical sunshine and lollipop world do you live in? Because you need to be medicated."-SFist

The problem with that is that you end up with today's hodge-podge of things described as civil unions that vary wildly in what they actually mean and protect, and at the same time create the impression that the issue is resolved.

This is my worry. In France, religious marriages don't count in the state's eyes. Therefore, many people have two ceremonies, 1 at city hall, and 1 in a church. However, taking religion out of the equation hasn't meant that one can marry someone of the same sex. And, despite having "concubinage" (love that term!) laws on the books for yonks that allowed for registration of domestic partners, the battle for the PaCS (a type of civil union) was an ugly one, notably over the question of adoption, which ended up not being a right granted to couples that are "pacsé".

Seeing the same "What about the children?" issue come up here in the battle over Prop. 8 has made me very pessimistic that we will make any serious progress in achieving marriage equality anytime soon.

In happier news, I have achieved scarves! I finished the last of nine(!) last night and mailed the last few this morning.
