Seattle's SNOWPOCALYPSE is so done with for me. It has been snowing for over 24 hours. On top of the snow we got on Thursday, which no one knew how to deal with and hadn't been plowed or salted. And it is supposed to be just warm enough (33 degrees) during the day tomorrow and Tuesday and freezing at night to make everything ICY ICY SLICK on all the hills. This is going to be FUN FUN FUN!! Oh, and even once the current snow stops, we might get MORE!
WTF?? I am so over this.
For all you fellow ice and snow sufferers, if you don't have them already, I recommend YakTrax.
Seattle's SNOWPOCALYPSE is so done with for me.
The news here just referred to it as "a freakish Seattle blizzard."
Boo fucking hoo. Let me wipe away the tears with my shovel-blistered hand.
I find winter rain much more dreary than snow. It took quite an act of will to get out of the house today, which Emmett and I managed by going to the Metreon and playing arcade games.
He had high score for the day on Primeval Hunter which allows you to shoot lots of dinosaurs as they attack you.
We also tried out some Wave Motion game/ride, which was sort of a virtual reality roller coaster with the chair rocking and rolling and tipping and lurching while you go shooting through things like an abandoned mine. The fantasy course on that one was fun, since it shot you off the track into helicopter shots swooping over mountains and such.
I find daily subzero temperatures much more dreary than either rain OR snow.
(I just went over to weather.com for Monday's forecast. Sigh.)
I find winter rain much more dreary than snow.
You don't have to shovel rain. You don't get trapped in the house by rain cause even if your car can make it up the driveway it can't handle the unploughed icy streets. I can handle rain. Snow can go to hell, where I gather it is wanted.
I like warm rain and dry snow.
The problem comes when the lovely snow melts and refreezes on our maliciously slick brick sidewalks. We've been so fortunate this season that I just can't complain.
Having a low-slung pooch makes the squish and filth of winter mud a real pain.
Hey bonny -- forgive me if this comes out as rude or prying, because I don't intend it to be -- wasn't today (or this weekend) the anniversary of the Lockerbie flight? What I mean is, I seem to recall that you had a connection to it?
If I remembered correctly, I just wanted to tell you that I was thinking about you today when I heard the news item mentioning the anniversary.
If I *didn't* remember correctly, I apologize for what is surely a weird-ass post.
I've lived in Canada and Boston and Ohio and had my share of snow. I just find it less depressing in the winter than rain. Actually prolonged gray skies is worse than weather for me.
The Floridian in me craves sunshine.
