It's too cold for me to try anything tonight. My fingers freeze within minutes even with gloves on. I'll try tomorrow and walk to the nearest drugstore for deicing stuff if I have to. Anything else I could use is in the car.
Her advice: "Btw, if it really gets that cold, it's possible your car won't start or that the door locks will be frozen and you won't be able to unlock them."
Ha! It's not the locks. I could hear the doors unlocking. It's the seal around the door. I've been having trouble with that even when it's just cold rain.
In my old car I could push the seat backs down from the trunk, but in this one you have to pull them open from inside the cab. I guess that saves me the spectacle of entering my car through the trunk.
Ha!
In her (and my) defense, she knows there's no way in hell I drive in frozen if there are options.
I guess that saves me the spectacle of entering my car through the trunk.
Lost comedy gold though...
Um, btdt. Car was snowed in, it was easiest to unearth the trunk (to get to the shovel!!!) and shove a lot of the snow off by opening doors. But that was the Presidents' day snow, which had the National Guard patrolling for people in distress. It was insane. And I spent most of a day uncovering my car.
So, since I couldn't go out tonight I should make brownies instead. Right?
Heh--Two Lumps is having fun with the Twelve Days of Christmas.
I *love* the three French hens! "Le boq...le boq!"
oh god, a guy from highschool challenged me to a word game on facebook, but hasn't friended me. passive aggressive much?
I made cheesecake, and stupidly took it out of the pan too early, and it cracked like mad. I now have it in a saran wrap sling trying to keep it together.
Maybe a cup of hot water, aurelia?
This, except a kettle, not a cup. Especially if it'll take you a few minutes to get from your door to the car -- wrap the kettle in a towel or something to keep the heat in on the way. It is possible you'll just build up more ice, but I think it's worth a try. The ice holding the door shut shouldn't be all that thick, it's just that it's the entire door edge. So even melting a little might make enough difference to you get the door open.
That said, be careful! With the hot water and the ice and the driving and the glavin.
