Buffy: A Guide, but no water or food. So it leads me to the sacred place and then a week later it leads you to my bleached bones? Giles: Buffy, really. It takes more than a week to bleach bones.

I know my own heart and understand my fellow man. But I am made unlike anyone I have ever met. I dare to say I am like no one in the whole world. - Anne Lister

Our company party was cancelled (I never go anyway), but our department did a potluck/catered-but-we-all-chip-in lunch today. We were all grumpy about it because a.) all of us usually work at home on Fridays and b.) the director picked Greek food for it. Nothing says happy holidays like falafel! All of us would rather have skipped it. Bah humbug!

Hah and now I'm doing remote babysitting! T's parents are out at a holiday party and earlier (when he was out on an errand) one of her friends came over...and invited some friends T's dad didn't know. Anyway, he kicked them out and T is to not have any guests tonight. Since I can see into their place, she's to have all the blinds open, lights on, and I'm gonna keep an eye on her. I'll call over every so often and maybe even run over there. He trusts her mostly, but she kinda blew it when she let the friend's friends in earlier without asking.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

I have no idea what to get my mother for Christmas.

I got mine a ship in a bottle? (She'd admired it when she was here last.)

My SIL is bugging me for what I'd like. I told her when I get a house, she can come out and help me pick colors and paint and put things up. Our tastes in stuff are different, but she really has a knack for arranging stuff, picking colors out so that they look right in a room and actually likes to do it. Whereas I'm all "Just put it up/away!"

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I got mine a frying pan. She said she needed one, over Thanksgiving. Oh, and also a corny book.

hip deep in pie

I got my mom Obama's Dreams From my Father and Barbara Walter's new bio.

And...American Apparel has men's pink tube socks, and they have a store here. Yay.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I don't know what we got my mother. I was in charge of father. He's getting a leather-bound Levenger journal. For his writerliness.

I'm watching Catwoman. I hadn't considered how much it could suck, and how ludicrous Halle Berry could look. It's embarassing.

I'm doing a lot of my shopping in B'ham. Less to carry or ship.

And one of things my SIL has requested is gift cards for my brother to get new clothes. Apparently his boss (not sure if new or old, I bet old) told him he dresses like a slob. Which, funny! I'm so used to seeing him trashed out, seeing him in a suit was funny.

My mom wants a Nintendo DS, but my sister already had a present for her and my brother isn't coming home or getting presents for them until March, and I wasn't willing to spend that much on my own. Other than that, I'm not sure what to get her...
