Spike? It's you. It's really you! My therapist thought I was holding on to false hope, but…I knew you'd come back. You're like…you're like Gandalf the White, resurrected from the pit of the Balrog, more beautiful than ever. Oh…he's alive Frodo. He's alive.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Where I learnt that Dr. Baraff will no longer be authorising any pain meds for me. I have a chronic condition and "his" ER doesn't treat those. He's also sending an email telling my migraine specialist to stop sending me there.

WTF? So...you're supposed to see a pain specialist after midnight? How's that supposed to work?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

So...you're supposed to see a pain specialist after midnight? How's that supposed to work?

I wish he'd gone into detail. But pain specialists don't have the resources to treat migraines ad hoc, so that would be little help to me anyway.

As far as I can tell, the ER is the only group sitting on on-demand dilaudid/benadryl/compazine/keterolac, and he's decided he's not sharing. Because my need is chronically on-demand.

Now tagless for your comfort.

Crap. Fraudlent activity on our debit cards. Debit cards are cancelled. No Christmas shopping this weekend.

Dr. Baraff is an asshole. I hope he develops a nasty, painful and chronic condition himself. Of course, he'd probably just write his own scripts and not have any problem getting treatment. Fucker.

Librarian Warlord

The Public Library of Law has state records too.

::adjusts law librarian cap::

That database, and most others, don't have trial court records (charges, transcripts, jury verdicts, etc). They have opinions (only, no briefs, etc.) from appellate courts - these opinions have precedent. Trial court opinions don't set precedent and are only binding for the two litigants involved, and they're not generally published.

eta: PACER does have other filings, like briefs and motions, that when I started in the biz you had to go to the court for -- thus my appreciation.

::takes off cap, goes back to reading the Internets::

ita, I hope the surgery worked, and I hope your doctor rips Dr. Baraff a new asshole. I'd write a letter to the hospital administrator (or ombudsman) and publish it widely, but I'm rude.

Something WAAAAAAAAY up his arse would be good.

Sorry about the debit cards, Cash-- what a shitty thing to have happen right now.

You mean besides his head? It's already there.

And it's chronic.

ugh, yeah, seriously on all counts. ita, I wish you were here and had my best friend, the ER doc, to help you navigate the system.

This weekend I will have eated too much delicious Indian food for lunch on Friday evidently. Later I will go see Ted Leo at a warehouse in my neighborhood. Yay!

Tomorrow I am running in the a.m. and xmas shopping in the hood and going to some friends' concert in the evening. Medieval vocal music I think?

Sunday I'm going out to one of the big Korean grocery stores/malls west of here and, I hope, buying a manly bento box for my boyfriend and who knows what else?!

Sunday night dinner with band ladies. Oh! Also a friend is having a friends and family sale at her store that I have to get to. I think boyfriend's family's presents may be there.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

What Sparky said.

I'd never heard of it [epidural] in a non-childbirth context.

I had epidurals twice for surgery on my foot. The second time it didn't take.

Chicago may get a new spire this weekend. [link]
