Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

SNOWPOCALYPSE!

Poor Dana, for certain.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

It's okay now, because I'm home. This morning, I was away for work north of the city, and let me tell you, they got more snow there. And then the hotel lost power. And then we were going to leave, but we didn't, and it was cold, and OMGWTF.

Almost all of the snow in New Orleans has melted. It's going to be a little uglier on the north shore tomorrow.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Yesterday was G's birthday. We went to a hockey game with G's dad. This was the first hockey game I'd seen live in over 10 years. Still don't understand all of it.

re Pie: I made the Basic all Butter Crust from the Pie and Pastry Bible, and I thought it was flaky but not too tough.

I made the CI Vodka crust two or three times, but it definitely turned out flakiest the first time I made it. I think it was so vet the first time, that I held off just a little on the liquids the subsequent times. It was very sticky for rolling out, though.

Also, I saw some pretty black ornaments in a fancy decor store. The had such beautiful ornaments, but of course, every single one I liked was $20 a pop. They also had a beautiful teal tree that would be perfect in my living room...but it was $200. I'll see what's left when I make it to the after Xmas sale, but it always seems like all the really nice ones are never on sale.

I want a vodka pie crust link please.

Also, I love the rotary phone hack. My favorite fun use of the iphone is making it be a temporary baby monitor: [link]

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

One of my asst. managers at the bookstore was telling me about her goth Xmas tree. Her husband (a professional fight instructor who is currently teaching jousting in Majorca at a Medieval Knights-style venue) has the key for the storage space, so she couldn't get in to get their tree. She went out and picked up a cheap white aluminum one (she was tempted by a pink one, but her hubs would have not approved), and she's putting all her goth ornaments on it, and trying to find more black ones. She's also looking for raven ornaments, and I told her to look at Edgar Allen Poe societies to see if they have any.

I just discovered that Gmail has a little eyroll icon. Jesse's @@ is still better. It's hilarious (to me) that I often start to use @@ and then realize that I have yet to indoctrinate the person to whom I am writing. We really need to get on universalizing @@.
