Ex-minion and I were trying to come up with an analogous period of corruption yesterday. Stevens and Palin aren't even in this league. Huey Long? At least he accomplished some things, and people liked him. Ulysses S. Grant? Drunk and incompetent, closer. Really though, I think we're into full on Boss Hogg territory.

Man, I slipped and fell INSIDE my building on my way to my office this morning.
I am v. klutzy. Although, I think I must have had some snow or ice stuck to the bottom of my boot.
It felt pretty spectacular but nobody saw it. (I am not injured. I don't think.)
Was US Grant greedy? AND incompetent? And extremely arrogant?
I think Blago is in his own league in this.
It really is astonishing. It will be interesting to see what the defense will be, but insanity or substance abuse seem to be the only options.
Be careful, Sumi.
Perhaps he could consult with DC's former mayor (and current councilman) Marion Barry? the one who, when caught on tape with crack, maintained his innocence and said "the bitch set me up". (After his release from prison, there was a convoy - with chartered buses - of people escorting him home in triumph.)
Holy crap, I just got the nicest email from my Big Boss. I would print it out if our network weren't all kerfluey!
Well, trust me, the people of the state of Illinois already disliked Blago. They will not support him happily should he triumph.
Congrats, Sparky on the Sparkette on the way!
Thank-you! (It has been know in our house as Fetusfras and Babyfras, to go with the dog's name [Sassafras])
Oh Sparky, congratulations. That's fantastic!
Congratulations, Sparky!
