Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Sleeping Noah is killer diller adorable.

You're not missing anything, Laga. He's just being crotchety. I'm just amused by it because having gone through the training myself (all faculty have to) I found it not merely an utter waste of my time, but actually a form of sexual harassment in its own right. Still, not worth making a fuss over, he should just take to the dang training.

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

yeah, it's mean to make us sit through two hours of training that we turn around and teach to our staff in 15 minutes. Hell, I can teach it in 5 seconds...

If someone does something that makes you uncomfortable, tell them to stop.

If someone tells you to stop, stop.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

For my summer teaching gig, we get the Blood Borne Pathogens session each year, but no sexual harassment training. I'll bet the video for the latter is better.

1. I thought I'd watch an episode of The Shield before going to bed, because I was like 8 episodes behind. That was 4 hours ago.

2. Dude. DUDE. This is off the rails. Every episode ends in something amazing and I cannot stop and go to sleep now. I cannot.

3. So if I send in an email to work now and just say "I haven't been able to sleep and I think I'll stay home tomorrow," that's not technically a lie, right?

In conclusion: I embrace my lack of self-control. And now back to the midnight-to-8-ayem marathon I seem to have gotten myself into.

Conclusion #2: I am dumb. But wow, what a crazy-awesome show.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

Boot:

1. Cool.
2. (But) weird.

3. What's up with the heel? I'd ask how the hell one's supposed to walk with it, but I'm about 300 dangerous heels from that question. I just like the comfort (so typed the hiking shoes person).

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

So if I send in an email to work now and just say "I haven't been able to sleep and I think I'll stay home tomorrow,"

Heh. I suppose #3 isn't at all a lie!

{edited to make clear what #3 I'm responding to -- not used to having other morning posters around....]

Art Crawl!!!

I think she's at Hope. (She has taught at so many different colleges in the General Grand Rapids area - that I've completely lost track of where she is teaching now.)

Ok, that makes me feel significantly better, that is over double my monthly mortgage and maintenance. I could have a cutere place here too for that money.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Man, someone here asked me if we get tomorrow off, and I was like, bwuh? Oh, right, Veteran's Day. Yeah, we don't care about the veterans....

This weekend's This American Life has a bunch of Studs Terkel interviews that were originally broadcast in 1971 about the Great Depression and whatnot. It's pretty incredible. If for no other reason, and I realize this is kind of stupid, but it's hard to remember and really "get" what my grandparents have seen and lived through.
