Joyce: Dawn, you be good. Xander: We will. Just gonna play with some matches, run with scissors, take candy from some guy, I don't know his name.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I promise I'll search for an apple pie while you'll sleep for the both of us, OK?

You have to also promise to not snarf it all.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

I promise.

Now tagless for your comfort.

Barb, I saw that slow cooker in my W&S catalog and covet it greatly.

God, that's a gorgeous piece of kitchen hardware.

Shir, I think you get to keep all of the pie, since I didn't go to bed. I'm in a pissy as hell mood and it sure sucks to have to be awake through it.

Let's just say I hate all of the medical profession, even though I know they don't all deserve it. I lack the required magnanimity to pick and choose.

Maybe cream of wheat will calm me down. Or buttermilk pancakes.

eta: Now I want cream of wheat pancakes, despite them not existing.

eta²: Der. Of course they do.

Art Crawl!!!

When I got up this morning I could not find my glasses. No, not at all.

So, I am wearing my contacts. My contacts are not exactly the right prescription (neither are my glasses). And I have lots of close in work today. Happy Monday!

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

What is it with you, Buffistas, and making me want apple pie?

It is definitely apple pie season here in the US!

Sorry, ita. Sounds like a night of no-fun.

I was right not to want to come in this morning.

“Not dead yet!”

Barb, I saw that slow cooker in my W&S catalog and covet it greatly.

It's lovely in hand, Cash--the insert is light as all get out, which is such a welcome relief over the porcelain insert my old one had. I'm absolutely dying to break it in, but am totally dithering over what to make first.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Is it Monday? Actually, I think I'm still asleep, and only dreaming I'm at work. Stupid work dream....

ION, this is cool:

Ryan Estrada wrote to us about his website, Cartoon Commune, where you can get your own made-to-order (and very reasonably priced) custom comic books, children’s books, illustrations, animations and songs. Cartoon Commune has a team of 5 illustrators, each with their unique styles, so you can select one that matches your taste.

What to do with a custom comic? Well, for one, they make a fantastic gift:

Turn your significant other into a superhero. Have your kid’s bedtime story adapted into a book they can read themselves. Turn your ‘how we got together’ story into an unique wedding favor, or anniversary gift. Get a new "our song" that’s actually written about the two of you.

Ryan Estrada drew for us a fantastic comic book starring Neatoramanaut and Neatoramabot - besides the cute drawing, he even rhymed the captions!

10 Facts About Diamond You Should Know

1. The Earliest Use of Diamonds: Polishing Axes

If you ask a hundred people what they think of first when they hear the word "diamond," I bet you get 99 who say a diamond engagement ring.

Truth is, the majority of diamonds mined today are used for industrial purposes - and that may also be the very first use of diamonds by humans.

Harvard physicist Peter Lu and colleagues found that ancient Chinese used diamonds to polish ceremonial burial axes in the late stone age or over 4,500 years ago.

The axes, which are made from corundum (or ruby in its red form and sapphire in other colors), were polished to a mirror finish. Corundum is the second hardest naturally occurring substance on Earth and close examination of these axes revealed that they could've been made only with diamond abrasives.

2. Diamonds Are Not The Hardest Substance on Earth

Not no more, anyway....

Snoring not allowed: The Power Nap Capsule

Drawing on extensive physiotherapeutic research, the mattress’s undulated shape places your head and legs slightly above the lumbar region to relieve pressure on the back, encourage proper spinal alignment, improve circulation, and facilitate optimal relaxation. Made from supple calfskin leather and filled with 6"-thick cold foam, the mattress contours to the shape of your body and provides a soft yet supportive surface free of pressure points. The sleep surface is 12" longer than a king size mattress, ensuring ample room for outstretched limbs.
