The lemon and chocolate pies are out of the oven and the roast beast is in the oven. We gave up on turkey for the three of us some time ago.
May all the Buffistas have much to be thankful for this year.

I'm joining Aurelia in flouting tradition--not sure what I'm having for dinner, other than not turkey, but I have pumpkin bread baking, which smells awesome.
Us too! It's just me and my sister this year so we're doing stuffed porkchops. All the rest if the traditional stuff though, including an entire turkey's worth of extra stuffing (we may have gone a little overboard). It's all in the oven now.
Happy Ritual Sacrifice with Pie Day, everybody!
I sadly could not justify bringing leftovers of my grandmother's dressing recipe (as cooked by one of my aunts) home, since I have about 6 meals worth of storebought dressing here. But it's not going to taste nearly as good as it did last night.
right there with you, Tom.
am i insane by contemplating going to walmart in the morning for their deal on a 32" lcd hd tv? anybody know if emerson is a good brand? they also have a magnavox bluray for $128.
Home from dinner at my sister's place. My contributions were candied yams (they got all mushed up; I have better plans for next year) and these pork/olive/other stuff filled plantain-covered things made by the mother of one of my co-workers - totally not traditional, but they are the yum, and all I had to do was heat 'em up.
My leftovers include mashed potatoes, stuffing, platelas, and lemon ice-box pie. Had a lovely time with la familia.
Happy Thanksgiving (or regular old Thursday, depending) to all!
* Although now I seriously want to overlay the dialect map with a map of the predominant cooking method to see where and whether they overlap. OMG I AM DORK.
♥s amych.
I have no turkey. This saddens me.
OMG-- near coma.
Two kinds of turkey- traditional roasted and smoked (which was OMG YUM), Two kinds of sweet potato casserole, regular dressing/stuffing, green bean casserole, caraway seed bread, gravy and two kinds of cranberry relish/sauce-- the kind with ridges and a relish that was to die for.
My MIL made a Lindy's strawberry cheesecake, I made the two apple pies and the chocolate coma pie with fresh whipped cream. Given the size of the crowd, approximately half of the desserts were consumed. I came back with one of the apple pies, which is okay. I considered my part of the feast a success when I had the non-dessert eaters not only trying the apple pie, but loving it enough to go back for seconds.
Am about to fall over ded.
