Happy Birthda Daisy Jane!
Condolences Cash, that so sucks.
Well, I dropped off my last resume for this trip. Some "hire me!" ~ma would be appreciated.
Hello? Company? HIRE QUESTER!
Vibing ~ma quester's way.
Jealous of ChiKat's day off! I've got loads of stuff to do today in preparation for Monday, which is going to be my busiest day of the year (archive day really sucks and usually takes around 12 hours or so to finish, and it all has to be done by the EOB that day).
Good/bad thing is that I stopped by the bookstore last night to pick up my schedule for the next two weeks, and they've only given me four-hour shifts on the next two Saturdays. That's it. Considering I normally work 5 hours during the week and 6-7 hours on Saturdays, that's a big drop in hours. Here's hoping that they'll give me more as Xmas approaches!
The good part of that is that I get to enjoy more relaxing time this weekend, which is always nice.
I've made the decision, mac and I are staying home for Christmas. I think I am still going to take the three vacation days I have left this year, one will cover the 26th when his afterschool is closed, so I have no childcare option. The other 2 days I think I will have him go to the afterschool and I'll either do some projects round the house or lounge.
Happy Birthday, Daisy!
Gas just fell below $1.50 at a couple of the cheaper stations here. I'm not sure if it was delivered by truck, or if the Four Horsemen threw a few barrels over their saddlebags...
The picture is coming from INSIDE the house! Photo from inside Puppycamland.
This is the coolest link I've seen in a while. Must for all Maddow-philes. [link]
Poor puppies - they have no idea that this is the last week they'll all sleep in the pile together.
What a wonderful fan letter! Those kids have a great start if they're already getting interested in politics during junior high.
I was just thinking last night about when I got radicalized in terms of being political aware. I've been on the fringes of political geekdom since college--voted for Reagan in 1984 because I just didn't know anything, then got sucked into the edges of the progressive movement on campus, with the anti-apartheid shantytowns on the quad, and watched the Iran-Contra hearings religiously. Since then, I drifted in and out of knowing what the hell was going on, all the way up to and including the 2004 election. But, I became a big-time wonk (following the political blogs and watching the news again after skipping CNN et al throughout most of the 1990s) after Katrina.
My mom doesn't quite know what to make of me now. She was the one who raised me left-leaning (her dad half-jokingly said he expected to watch the Vietnam War rallies in the late '60s and see her with all three of us preschool kids in tow, even though she never did that). However, she did disappoint me last week when she told me of her resistance to gay marriage. She has no problems with civil unions, but not official marriage. Both my sister and I let her know we disagreed with her, but let it go.
