Aren't poodle mixes often good for allergic people, too? I thought that was one of the reasons a high school friend of mine had a cockapoo.

They can be - it depends on the dog. I should say that the reason that the Australian organization (or whatever) that pioneered the "labradoodle" project stopped was because they could not get the cross to breed "true" for hair rather than regular dog coat.
You can find purebred dogs at the shelter or through rescue.

I just took some cookies out of the oven. The recipe called them buckwheat sugar cookies, but they look like buckwheat shortbread to me. And they smell delicious, but we have to wait for them to cool before we eat them.
Mmm...cookies.
Mmmm.. . I wish I had some fresh baked cookies.

You can find pure-bred rescue dogs fairly easily -- a friend got a (fluffy) Chinese Crested that is a joy and a half. (Chinese Crested come in a variety of hairy to hairless states. The fluffier ones are almost like poodles with a hair relaxer applied.)
