The mall was too big to survive on only the local population. When it opened, people from the surrounding suburbs and rural areas would come to the mall on weekends.

I think you're right about the size, that place was huge as was the surrounding strip mall area. It was really amazing how quickly everything shut down. For awhile it seemed like every time I went there the store I was planning to go to had just closed.

Although I went to Bannister and the surrounds stores a lot when it was there, the mall I most lament is Metcalf South. It was the Kansas City mall I went to most as a kid. It had a cool three story fountain with lots of bowl like things to try to toss coins into.

Just call me "Siouxsie Shunshine".

I could say I did it to avoid grading.

Grade avoidance syndrome has let to me doing many a craxy thing. I fear it may send me to Twilight as well. However, I am almost looking forward to the experience in a "I can't help but watch this train wreck" sort of way and am fully expecting to eyeroll and twitter all the way through.

I can't beleive I have students missing school tomorrow so they can go to the first showing at noon. They are heading to the mall early to get in line so they are sure to get tickets.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Good god. I haven't watched the puppies in a while and it's like the camera's running on fast forward. They're tiring me out.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Need to pack, as tomorrow we head for New Jersey to attend Philcon, for the first time in a few years.

Bah. I waited too long to reserve a rental car for Thanksgiving, so the places I usually go to are all out. So I have to go to O'Hare, where the City taxes are like 20%. Plus I don't get a weekend rate, so it's $250 to rent a Focus for two days. (Usually I end up spending around $100.)

Doesn't Chicago have zipcar or anything? Could you do that, would that be cheaper?

Wait, Philcon's in NJ this year? How long has this been going on?
