Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

The vein where there are already 50 needle marks, moron

See, I'm the opposite. Once you get a spot on me, the square inch is verboten for weeks.

Thanks Frank. I'm holed up half-conscious today with continuous headache, so your sentiment is much appreciated. My last ER visit was Thursday, so no relief for me for a while. And I really should have filled my Flexeril script yesterday when I was feeling better.

Our wings are not tired.

I don't mind most medical stuff at all. Watch all kinds of real surgery shows and such. Needles - major phobia. I had both the kids natural because there was no way in the world I would agree to have a needle. They took my blood weekly during both pregnancies and it was pure horror. Never got used to it.

I'm OK with needles EXCEPT in my hands for IVs. I have to get those on my arms or side of the wrist or whatever. Cannot deal with the thought of needles in my hands. Ack.

One nurse had to spend a good deal of time digging around for a vein one time, and, I mean, once the needles in, it's not really that painful, so I wasn't bothered... I thought the guy who also happened to be in the room was going to pass out watching that - why did he keep watching then??

Happy Birthday, Sumi! I hope it was a delight filled day.

Oh, oops. I got distracted by the needle talk...

Happy Birthday, sumi!

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

So to add insult to injury, they have to keep finding new places to stick you? I feel a lot luckier now for my one little vein that could.

It seems futile to keep saying how much I wish you could find some real relief, ita, but I do wish it fervently.

Maybe they're more random with me, but that's when I find it the most painful and when I bruise the worst.

Thursday night I had one miss that was a gusher--took three pieces of gauze to soak up the blood, but it still wasn't a good stick. Took four more to hit home, and then I moved during the saline drip and lost it entirely (it was in right by the knuckles) so the last meds went in IM because they weren't willing to go through the hunt again--already worn out two nurses getting the abortive one in.

I'm a bruise from elbow to knuckle. When the CSIs find my corpse they will file me under clumsy junkie.

I do wish it fervently.

Thank you. I don't say it enough, but I highly appreciate all the good wishes of the buffistas.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Me too. It's the poking around underneath the skin that really hurts.

Now tagless for your comfort.

kitchen floor done 4 days

I so know who to call when and if we decide to do any home improvement around here.

We're watching the UFC fight. Results spoiler:Randy Couture lost to Brock Lesner. Pretty good fight, though.

I can handle needles unless I look. I once had a nurse try to insert an iv in a hand that has some tiny scars on the back and she had to root around to get a vein. And a horrible Serbian phlebotomist have to root around during a donation gone very wrong.

I don't donate anymore because I'm always one or two points off on my iron, no matter how hard I try to push it up. I wish they would loosen the standards between men & women on iron.
