But if I have a bowl of cereal for breakfast at 10am, a burrito at 4pm, and then don't eat dinner....uh....OK, I'm not healthy. What??
I am totally with you. And that sounds perfectly reasonable. I think it's the "eat six times a day" people, who are also responsible for the 300 calorie Lean Cuisine "meals." If I'm eating three meals of 300 cal each, that would be a really extreme diet! I'm not a snacker, I have like 150 cal. for breakfast, and I'm not even trying to lose weight.
Possibly I am overly defensive.
I think the ads are obnoxious and do little if anything to improve public health. It just seems like a giant waste of money.
I think the calorie counting ads are better than the stupid "pro-marriage" billboards being paid for with our tax dollars up here.
I am splitting my lunch a lot recently - eating part at noon and the rest at 2 or 3. Those days I often don't eat more than a small snack for dinner. But, I don't count calories, so I have no idea how many I consume. I would think the menu calorie listing would be helpful to anyone who was trying to lose weight, even if they are a buzzkill.
They should put up the calorie contents of the "healthy" fruit smoothies.
In NYC, any chain with more than some number of stores has to list all the calories, so I'm sure Jamba Juice has their up, too.

What does a "pro-marriage" billboard look like?

They do, at least in the places that I see 'em posted. Maybe not in the ads (which I haven't seen), but when they're posted in food places, they're posted for everything they sell.
I look at those calorie ads and think, "They're just sucking all the joy out of life."
Only if you let them.
Mostly I'm fascinated by the stuff.
Jesse, do you guys have Robeks up there?
MY CAR WILL BE READY BY FIVE!!!!!
