for some reason the PCH doesn't bug me -- but lots of other much narrower roads with switchbacks and cliffs have me convinced that we are going to die.

My most memorable drive in SoCal was taking Mulholland Highway from Calabasas, to Leo Carrillo beach in my 1976 LTD back in 1990.

At times the road looked like I was driving a bike path.

But the view was wonderful..as long as I didn't look down towards the valley floors 1000's of feet below me and one swift jerk of the wheel away.

For the first six weeks we had the Feral Kid, who was a stray who turned up in our yard when we lived out in the country, we never saw her. Food was eaten. The litter box was used. It was like having a ghost. Then she emerged and became the world's friendliest cat.
