A text message a friend who was in Gaza sent me (originally in English):
It is done. Apparently. I am in Israel, we will see what tomorrow brings. Stories and songs of praise will come later. Viva freedom, Viva Israel. Sweet dreams.
My boys. My friends. My generation. The stuff we'll have to cross to make something worthy out of all of this mess.
And I also got a 5 minute call from the sis. She interested on which paper I work on (Foucault) and what's the news (she only heard about the Israeli cease-fire). She'll be home for Tue/Wed, maybe. I miss her.
They're leaving a huge part of themselves behind. I hope that part isn't too big to overcome the battlefield and face reality.

The first time I met omnis (through ND and Kristin) I remarked on what fun he was and Kristin told me she knew we'd get along because we both tend to think in the gutter. She probably phrased it nicer.
That day was awesome. I can't deny, I had some swoon. Laga is made of The Awesome.

Acording to Managing Director, in the 50 years of the theater, the only other time we had front page coverage is when they announced the new Artistic Director last year.
Is it hopelessly naive of me to wish deep in my heart that Michelle and Barack are as in love as that photo makes them look? Cuz I'm all for fantastic, private love stories. And if there's a goodly chunk of that man's soul that, far beyond political ambition, wants to give the world to the love of his life and have it be a legacy for their children - it might make him even more passionate to do the right things with and for this country.
