Thrive to spite them

I got marginally more sleep last night. But I got hot and felt feverish right around 4 and of coruse by the time I got home and took my temperature it's normal.

I think I'm on the verge of being sick and I'm just so exhasuted I can't seem to catch up rest. But it's such a big deal for me to call in sick and it's such a bad time for it to happen.

Why is it hard for students to copy each others' homework intelligently?

I once had five students turn in nearly identical assignments, including line breaks at the same places. I was able to actually line the papers up and figure out who copied from whom, because there was a smudge on the first paper that became a colon on the second and then became an equal sign somewhere around the fourth.

Ok. That's kind of funny.

In things-I-hope-my-kids-don't-repeat news, I was making up tunes today to sing to my kiddos while we danced. Eventually, I stopped dancing with them, but they begged me to keep making up music for them to dance to. So, I did. I was being silly and started singing really fast, and they started dancing really fast. One of my preschoolers said, "Look Miss Val! I'm dancing crazy! I learned crazy from you!"

I copied sometimes. But at least I knew what I was writing.

Hah! I hear ya, Gris. I like Hil's story--that's pretty impressive! Did they all get in the same amount of trouble? Or did the person who actually did the work in the first place and then let someone copy (who then let someone copy...etc...since presumeably the error that got bigger means the first person didn't let five people copy off the same assignment) get in a different amount of trouble? Or what?

Depressing things, to hear about the schools. Eep. Fingers crossed for ALL buffistas to keep their jobs, as they like!

We're all getting played with, babe. -Weird Barbie

Clearly there is something in the air. I had yet another issue (this time with an obnoxious student who thinks she's better than everyone else) today, and I'm feeling demoralized and drained. And depressed. Just to make it even more alliterative.

Compassionately intolerant

I'm so glad for your gran Pix.

Thanks so much for the good thoughts everyone. It really means a lot to me.

Bonny, may your honorary father have what he needs the most at this time.

Thanks Sail. That's exactly what I want for him.

I spent time with Niki and that was great. Gordon is really struggling with the things the health staff need to do for him, which is wearing Niki down a bit. We laughed, cried, and held each other...it was sort of a pre-emptive wake.

In the end, I decided that the best I could do for Gordon was NOT go to see him. No point in making him struggle to respond to me under an oxygen mask. I'll be there when he gets home. And if he doesn't, I'll still be with him in one way or another.

The surgery is tomorrow at 2. And it will be the best it can be, no matter what.

Thanks again. I'm grateful to be here with you.
