I have heard that the teacher layoff announcement is partly political posturing to put pressure on Sacramento, and that there will actually be way less layoffs. One can only hope. Things are in SUCH a mess that I don't think anyone has any idea what is going to happen, including Arnie and the legislature.
Spike's Bitches 43: Who am I kidding? I love to brag.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
Why is it hard for students to copy each others' homework intelligently?
I cheated on homework in high school, occasionally. I don't think it's right, but I did it. I know it happens. I know I can't stop it.
But seriously: if your friend writes "20 <" (a nonsensical thing indeed) and you COPY it as your answer... nobody's learning anything. You didn't even look at the QUESTION, or you'd know that was nonsensical.
I copied sometimes. But at least I knew what I was writing.
dobbie/Ger Shep mutt we think
never knew that dogs could breed with house elves.
Is Ger really a house elf? If you're speaking of Invader Zim, that is.
Taquitos!
stomps into thread, throws self onto fainting couch, presses hand to forehead, growls
Just ignore me; I'm having a nibbled-by-ducks day and I was already hormonally cranky. My sympathy and ~ma to anyone who needs or wants it.
I think Monday migrated to Tuesday this week. I've got a big bid I need to revise and I just don't wanna, and I'm trying to chase down a theatre producer who's lagging on paying for a rental. I hate having to threaten to pull the gear, which will essentially close their show, in order to get paid.
This Indexed made me think of Jilli.
I got marginally more sleep last night. But I got hot and felt feverish right around 4 and of coruse by the time I got home and took my temperature it's normal.
I think I'm on the verge of being sick and I'm just so exhasuted I can't seem to catch up rest. But it's such a big deal for me to call in sick and it's such a bad time for it to happen.
Why is it hard for students to copy each others' homework intelligently?
I once had five students turn in nearly identical assignments, including line breaks at the same places. I was able to actually line the papers up and figure out who copied from whom, because there was a smudge on the first paper that became a colon on the second and then became an equal sign somewhere around the fourth.
Hil, the academic detective.
eta: better joke (at least mildly): CSI: Homework

Ok. That's kind of funny.
In things-I-hope-my-kids-don't-repeat news, I was making up tunes today to sing to my kiddos while we danced. Eventually, I stopped dancing with them, but they begged me to keep making up music for them to dance to. So, I did. I was being silly and started singing really fast, and they started dancing really fast. One of my preschoolers said, "Look Miss Val! I'm dancing crazy! I learned crazy from you!"
