Buffistas I've met have all been remarkably like the people in my head.
Yes indeed. The comfort and familiarity is a lovely thing.
Skipped bunches because of work stuff, but was so happy and relived to see the news on Zoe!
Eeep, Daniel! Please be careful.
Yay, Kickass Suzi! Woo!
Yay for potential dinner date!
Boo on unexpected vehicle or other expenses. Too many of those this year for too many of us.
I'm thinking of dragging the family to a big Winter Solstice celebration tonight in Fort Lauderdale. There will be drumming, dancing, chanting, and feasting. It should be a great night for it. Guess that means I have to get to work.
ION, my local paper today reminded me that:
DELRAY BEACH — Sunday is Florida "rub it in" day. It's the official first day of winter, a milestone that's all too real for our friends in the rest of the country but which for South Florida is merely a blip on the calendar.
As has been the case pretty much all week across Palm Beach County and the Treasure Coast, highs today will be in the upper 70s and lower 80s, with lows in the lower to mid 60s, higher over the weekend and early next week. Winds will gust up to 15 mph. There's only a slight chance of showers.
Feel free to drop me a line and I'll send driving instructions. Back to work with me.
And again, because it really made my day when I read the news. Go Zoe with the most excellent Christmas present she had for Pix and ND!
Ordinarily we Southern Californians can rub it in too but yesterday we had a high of only 56 degrees! brrrrr. I've taken to wearing my parka.
Do I need to be scary again, or would you go for it without me having to be dramatic?
Oh, I'm waiting for her to reply to the e-mail or call. No need to pressure.
some people who I think of as outspoken online might come across as more reserved IRL
That's me. Unless drunk from something.
Hmm. Mental note. If Shire comes to visit, have booze on hand.
If Shire comes to visit
your typo is making me think of hobbits arriving in Dallas.

Yet one might think that Austin would be more their kind of town.
If Shire comes to visit
I'll bring an extra e with me...?
No need to pressure.
Good.
So, guess who spent 8 hours at the ER today? Go on, I'll wait.
I started throwing up at 11:30 last night and then threw up every 15-ish minutes until 5 a.m., at which point I gave up the dream that it would get better on its own. I was severely dehydrated (in addition to the throwing up, there was also
diarrhea
-- it was just a carnival of gastrointestinal badness), and I couldn't stop the reverse peristalsis without drugs.
So The Boy drove me to the ER (second time in 2 weeks -- woo hoo), and I spent 8 hours there getting iv fluids and antinausea meds and some sort of drug that makes your GI tract chill the fuck out and stop trying to expel its contents.
Diagnosis: your basic stomach virus. I don't know where I got it, but if I find out, I'ma KEEL me someone.
The biggest bummer is that I had had dinner plans tonight with 2 of my girlfriends -- instead of exchanging gifts, we decided to go out for an outrageous, yummy dinner with lots of good wine. Well, since I'm restricted to clear liquids for today, going out to dinner is not going to happen (although *I* think Chardonnay is a clear liquid -- what??).
Dear god. I hadn't been sick like that in probably 20 years.
It sounds like The Boy is downstairs washing out my clothes that I
puked all over
in the ER. I cannot believe what an amazing man he is.
And now, since I didn't sleep last night (how could I, when I was barfing every 15 minutes?), I'm going to take my ginger ale and go to bed.
oh you poor thing. Tons of tummy ~ma to you.
Steph, dear. Quick health~ma to you.
Oh dear, Teppy. May you get some peaceful rest. I hope the dinner can be rescheduled.
