I just explained the concept of the male gaze to my officemate. That was fun. Though kind of difficult without being able to pull out movie clips and say, "See! Look at this!" (The conversation started when he was mocking women's studies departments, and I reminded him that I was a women's studies minor, and he wanted to know what sort of stuff we studied. I really wanted to be able to just pull out a few scenes from Some Like It Hot, Boys Don't Cry, and Sex in the City, and say, "See? That!")
Spike's Bitches 43: Who am I kidding? I love to brag.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
I just had to ask someone about something she did that was pretty stupid. I hope my e-mail danced around the subject enough not to sound insulting. It took me about 20 minutes to write. I hate those e-mails.
Question for the hivemind: I remember in a feminist TV criticism class I took in college, we watched this video that took scenes from music videos and intercut them with clips from the rape scene in The Accused. One of the music videos used was Cherry Pie, and I'm nearly certain another was Hot For Teacher. Anyone else ever seen this or know what it's called? Google is giving me no help.
t edit: nevermind. Just found it. Dreamworlds II: Desire, Sex, Power in Music Video.
