Joyce: You don't think it's too obvious? I think I look like I have a cat on my head. Buffy: But a very well groomed cat. Joyce: Well that's a comfort.

Spike's Bitches 43: Who am I kidding? I love to brag.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

Shir, what's the paper on?

We're analyzing post-WWII British academic writing: divide it to clear paragraphs with headlines, and including a list of sources the writer used. Since it's a class about materiel culture, every freaking hair clip and event he mentions gets into the report. Oh, and it's 35 pages long article. Small font. With a lot of "as x said", with x' last name only, and without any reference to the source he took it from. Or giving quotations without saying where it's from, coming after a line of 10 ys he could have referred to. That's right, no footnotes.

I'm a freshwoman: I get why we have to go through this. And look, I was a reporter and editor: I like editing, a lot.

But this? This is worse than work. I'd like to get knowledge, not information, please. I get paid to do this kind of shit. Hell, I probably get paid more than my teacher.

Thankfully, we got the option of giving the paper next week instead of tomorrow. Which is nice, because I have few questions for my teacher. Like, if I have to track down every damn x and y, and if he want the undivided list of categories (by order of appearance in the text) handed in by Chicago system or the other one.

I could bake for you!

Now you're talking.

And now I want an apple pie.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

SL, we'll definitely be there. Probably in the afternoon, when it first opens.

Compassionately intolerant

Thanks so much for the supportive thoughts over this explosion. And Laga, that is exactly what I've done. I hope they will take me up on the offer and I really do understand the kind of fear that leads to inappropriate responses like this but...

Here is what I didn't say: Okay, so the sense I'm getting is that you had a wildly inappropriate tantrum and, to distract from that, you are using me as a bludgeon. Saying that I have harmed you by going overtime on a session is ridiculous. I took you for more of an adult than that. Bummer for all of us.

Sigh.

I guess the worst part is that this particular person has been one of my very favorite clients ever. I really did assume more maturity and am mystified as to what is actually going on...'cause it sure ain't this. In truth, I think I DO know...and I'm seldom wrong when it comes to something like this...it just makes me sad when people sabotage themselves like that.

Ah well. The learning will occur, or not.

WindSparrow, I have a newfound respect for you. My throat is out to kill me. I don't know how you lived through this. Though, people are enjoying me with no voice. Ugh. So. Much. Pain.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

Oh vw - I'm sorry you got it too. That's something I would gladly keep to myself.

I'm actually not sure what I've got. I'm pretty sure it's a result of my new CPAP mask, which has caused a tremendous dry throat, which results in coughing fits, which results in great pain and apparently now, no voice. And I'm hosting Thanksgiving on Thursday. W00t!

In completely unrelated news, CBD's parents just returned from a few weeks in Australia and New Zealand. They brought me back the most GORGEOUS hand-spun yarn that I have ever seen. I thought that was just the sweetest, most thoughtful gift ever.

“Not dead yet!”

ACK-- it's bad enough that teenyboppers and seven year-olds and their mothers are begging for bites, but Tyra?

Come ON.
