At Whole Foods, they sell a sort of cranberry orange relish that's really good.

Spike's Bitches 43: Who am I kidding? I love to brag.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
I'll likely post this in tech, but I think it's neat.
So my aunt lives in a senior's residence. They have a table for discarded things the owners don't want or if a sad passing has happened, relatives sometimes leave odds and ends there.
My cousin Steve said that his mom noted an old digital camera there and he picked it up and brought it to me because he couldn't figure out how to work it.
I took one look at it and said, "This is not a digital camera. It's a film camera." He pointed out to me something he said was a port, but I recognized as a flash port. I also decided I had seen one before. The case was leather and very old, and the camera was sleek aluminum.
We were going out and about so I took it with me to the stores, and then to lunch. after lunch I took it out and yes, there was no mistaking it as a tiny film camera. It had ASA speeds up to 400 and shutter speeds up to 1/1000. It also had a light meter, and distance markings from 8 inches to infinity.
I have subsequently ID'd it as a Minox model B, the preferred camera of spys and spy flicks for over 70 years.
I hope he lets me keep it....
Does anyone have a good squash soup recipe?
I saw the Mama Stamberg's but my Aunt can't eat onions.. not allergic but they give her stomach problems. Plus I think it looks a little weird for most people in my family.
the Cranberry Ginger Chutney looks like it will work. So we are also having an onion or mostly onion free Thanksgiving.
My aunt developed this intolerance awhile back, she can't have any type of onion. Garlic is okay. And she likes onions, which makes it harder.
I would love to have Brussel Sprouts, I use Ina Garten's roasted recipe all the time and it's simple and they are tasty. However I think I'm the only one who likes them in my family.

I hope he lets you keep it, too! That is an amazing camera. It's making my gadget senses go all tingly!
Here's a recipe for butternut squash soup that I really like. It calls for chicken broth, but I bet you could substitute vegetable broth if you might be serving vegetarians.
Thanks, Calli! The vegetarians are not eating with us this year so that isn't a problem. Mom decided that I should make squash soup though, which may be a problem, since I've never made it before.
sj, if you don't want to deal with the whole squash you might be able to find peeled chunks. or use a frozen puree and make adjustments. Or use sweet potatoes. often they tell you to sub acorn squash as well, but the flavor isn't as strong.
oi. Man my ~ma aim is wonky today. ~ma TB.
Tired.
Hello kitty toaster saga was indeed Xmas sparky. She got a hello kitty camera ( thx CVS). And a bunch of cool stuffs. We have no space now.
But there was cake and there will be pics.
Thanksgiving prep is underway -- searched through my cookbooks for the stuffed squash recipe, ordered agar powder for the vegan pumpkin pie I want to try making, and made my adopt-a-turkey donation to Farm Sanctuary. Also made train reservations, and made a deal with my father that he'd try to pick me up on time from the train station. I feel like I'm forgetting something, but I'm not sure what.
Oh! Right. Need to email my mom with the shopping list of stuff I'll need for the parts of Thanksgiving dinner that I'm making, so that she can buy it the weekend before, and it'll be all set for me to start cooking on Wednesday.
