Does anyone have a good squash soup recipe?

Thrive to spite them

I saw the Mama Stamberg's but my Aunt can't eat onions.. not allergic but they give her stomach problems. Plus I think it looks a little weird for most people in my family.

the Cranberry Ginger Chutney looks like it will work. So we are also having an onion or mostly onion free Thanksgiving.

My aunt developed this intolerance awhile back, she can't have any type of onion. Garlic is okay. And she likes onions, which makes it harder.

I would love to have Brussel Sprouts, I use Ina Garten's roasted recipe all the time and it's simple and they are tasty. However I think I'm the only one who likes them in my family.

Just call me "Siouxsie Shunshine".

I have subsequently ID'd it as a Minox model B, the preferred camera of spys and spy flicks for over 70 years.

I hope he lets me keep it....

I hope he lets you keep it, too! That is an amazing camera. It's making my gadget senses go all tingly!

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Here's a recipe for butternut squash soup that I really like. It calls for chicken broth, but I bet you could substitute vegetable broth if you might be serving vegetarians.

Thanks, Calli! The vegetarians are not eating with us this year so that isn't a problem. Mom decided that I should make squash soup though, which may be a problem, since I've never made it before.

oh joy! Oh Rapture ! I have a brain!

sj, if you don't want to deal with the whole squash you might be able to find peeled chunks. or use a frozen puree and make adjustments. Or use sweet potatoes. often they tell you to sub acorn squash as well, but the flavor isn't as strong.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Thanksgiving prep is underway -- searched through my cookbooks for the stuffed squash recipe, ordered agar powder for the vegan pumpkin pie I want to try making, and made my adopt-a-turkey donation to Farm Sanctuary. Also made train reservations, and made a deal with my father that he'd try to pick me up on time from the train station. I feel like I'm forgetting something, but I'm not sure what.

Oh! Right. Need to email my mom with the shopping list of stuff I'll need for the parts of Thanksgiving dinner that I'm making, so that she can buy it the weekend before, and it'll be all set for me to start cooking on Wednesday.

How cool is that! My spidey senses were on high as you were describing it. SPY CAMERA! Very cool. Hope you get to keep it.

Thankfully a slow day in here for y'all. I caught up before going to bed. I am made of the ow right now. Too many laps around the super non-ADA building for rehearsals. Nobody wants to cue ahead, so I feel like we are constantly behind. Hate that feeling. In the meantime, low on sleep & hydration, plus tons of running around up n down stairs and hills, plus too much stage haze & fog, has given me aches n pains from the head to the heels. Ow. And noting tivo'd this weekend. So. Nothing to veg out to. :: le sigh ::

Um, hey! So Calistas, everyone ok over there. The over-exaggerating national press is making it sound like there are huge fires in all counties threatening everyone. be safe, ya hear!!

Oy.

I can't get to sleep. I somehow slept until about 1 today, and took a nap in the afternoon, so I'm now wide awake when I should be asleep. I've got office hours tomorrow morning, where I don't expect to get any students, and then a meeting with my adviser -- I'm not as prepared as I should be, but I seriously doubt that he is, either. (I'm working on an article. It's nearly ready to be submitted for publication. I just need his comments on the last few pages. I sent those pages to him two weeks ago, with specific notes on what I needed comments on. I'm betting he hasn't read them yet.)
