F2F update. I have heard back from the hotel and they are fantastic. The original contract had a $650 minimum on food and drink and no minimum on the hotel rooms with a $500 cancelation fee. They have agreed to swap the minimum from food and drink to the hotel rooms and will still honor the special room rate pricing. With the rooms currently reserved, we are already over the minimum - so no penalty charge for cancelling the hospitality suite and the prom.
If anyone was waiting for the last minute - the locked in room rates are still available thru Friday, June 17th - tomorrow.
I won't be staying at the hotel but can meet folks there after 6pm on Friday (have to drop CJ off on his weekend camping/training trip first).
Chicago-istas! Who's in for Habana Libre next Thursday? What is a good time to meet? I have the whole afternoon free, so I can do whenever.
Aims! Can you do that thing where you come down and be awesome?
Oh, I'll be there! I won't be able to get off of work, at least not too early, but I'm sure I can make it downtown by 5:00 if not earlier.
Great news, SuziQ! So who is going to be in Denver? I remember some, but too lazy to scroll back.
Suzi, that's wonderful news. Thank you for doing all of the planning. I know it can be discouraging to do it when so few people can come.
Thanks, Pix. So far I've only really dealt with the hotel.
I'm assuming we will make plans on the fly for the weekend of since we will have such an intimate group - shouldn't have too many problems finding entertainment. BUT, if there is anything Denver bound folks would like me to look into, just let me know.
I have a couple of groupons for bowling at Lucky Strike in Belmar. We can easily carpool there. Each one is good for 6 people for two hours of bowling plus shoes and a pitcher of beer or soda. I think. I'll have to double check but pretty sure.
Downtown sightseeing is another idea, if folks want.
I can do a BBQ or brunch or whatever here at my place, if that sounds interesting.
We also have the aquarium and Elitch Gardens but both can get a little pricey. Not horribly expensive but not cheap or free.
I think the only day I can be up in SF would be Friday the 24th. Can we do sushi somewhere that night?
Friday's good for me, although it'll have to be an early-ish night since my flight back to Chicago is at 6am on Saturday.
Early-ish night on Friday would work for me, if I might be so bold.
I just checked all possible ways for me to get to Denver next weekend and they Will Not Work, but sushi with shrift in SF I can get to.
Awesome! I can do 6:00--is that early enough?
I asked Juliana for sushi recs, and if she can join us.
