Mal: Cut it out. Job's not done until we're back on Serenity. Zoe: Sorry, sir. Didn't mean to enjoy the moment.

Not so nice is that I'm about to ruin a Friday morning for a bunch of people because of a series of unfortunate events and an upset foreign government. - shrift

In Northbrook, and I'll have a car. Though Friday night's hotel is out of my pocket, so I may try and find somewhere else to stay. My flight leaves O'Hare at 4:23 Saturday afternoon.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Cool. If you decide to come toward downtown or basically along the lake, I can suggest some places (food and/or hotel). If you stay somewhere further out, I'll defer to someone else for suggestions and come to you.

I'm getting the pig!

Maria, I've had good luck on Priceline for negotiating cheap (but still very nice) hotel rooms in Chicago.

That man was going to shank me. Over an omelette. Two eggs and a slice of government cheese. Is that what my life is worth?

I'd love to see you! That's my spring break week but I'm staying in town.

Decision time folks...

First, thanks for those who voted in the poll. We are tied between the dates. 14 people who can attend either date, and 4 people each who can attend one weekend and not the other. So 18 people either weekend.

As a tie breaker, another variable is our gathering space. We have two choices...

Weekend of June 18th
Junior Suite
King room with a balcony. Room is a bit larger than the usual room. We could probably request additional chairs and a microwave. There is also an entry area with an upholstered bench/luggage bench.
$150/night

Weekend of June 25th
Hospitality Suite
Large space with a dining table/chairs, seating area, couches, media center, kitchenette with microwave, 1/2 bath, adjoins to 2 guest rooms. The seating layout can be adjusted prior to our arrival to fit our needs.
$250/night

Should I set up a poll or should we do a bs consensus here? I'd like, if possible, to get the dates set before I head off to DC this evening.

Oh, and a reminder that the "hospitality suite" costs are combined with the prom costs and are covered by donations from the buffista community.

So, BEFORE prom costs, that's about $30 a person (taxes on hotels suck) for the hospitality suite, or $20 for a room. Plus whatever prom costs. (Assuming the hospitality is only for two days)

Right - mainly looking at Friday night, Saturday night, and late check out on Sunday. Would be nice to add Thursday if folks are coming in to town early...

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

I prefer the option of the larger hospitality space on June 25th.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Do we have enough interest to justify the larger hospitality space?
