The pros - We'll have this whole second floor area, where Pikes Peak is located, pretty much all to ourselves. People can spill out of the prom room to a large sitting area that's still fairly secluded. Or take the elevator or stairs down to the first floor and straight to the outside smoking area or just to get some air.
That sounds amazing. It would be great to go a year without pissing off the entire hotel with our boisterousness, and though I love windows, it certainly wouldn't be the first time we had Prom without them. The Seattle Prom room definitely didn't have windows.
Totally agree with not wanting to piss an entire hotel off. Or any of the hotel, if we can help it.
We scoped out the area restaurants and Suzi took notes. There's quite a few in the surrounding area and they range across the board in prices. Just to name a few - Qdoba and Panera on the lower price end, Cool River and Il Fornaio in the mid range and then McCormick & Schmick and Shanahan's Steakhouse. All are within walking or shuttle range, depending on how much you enjoy walking.
ETA - also The Original Pancake House. Almost forgot about that one.
Like, the first Pancake House ever? That sounds like a destination!
And the rest of it sounds great. Whenever we look at the carpets, we can just think "Gee, I'm glad I'm too old for hallucinogens anymore."
Nah, that's just the name of it. Here's their site.

They have this thing called a Dutch Baby (that doesn't include real Baby) that is astonishing.
"Gee, I'm glad I'm too old for hallucinogens anymore."
That was my exact thought (not that I ever did anything like that in my youth...) as we toured the hotel.
The pretty outdoor patio is at the other end of the hotel and is attached to the one hotel restaurant.
I can live with the carpet, the space itself sounds pretty fantastic and that the area is quite walkable is a huge plus. Sounds good, you guys!
Yeah, this all sounds great. So now it's just a matter of picking a date?
Yes, Brenda
The last poll results showed just a one person difference between the two dates. I want to keep the poll open a couple more days to allow anyone who was offline over the weekend a chance to respond.
Also, at the moment we only have something like 14 people who have said they can come (adding the folks who said either date to the higher number of the "can only attend this date" folks). I'm concerned that the attendence level might remain that low.
Hopefully not. Workweek posters won't have weighed in yet, if nothing else.
