amyth, we'll be around (and working) those days and where I go would be with child as babysitting for G is a nightmare. If you don't mind me coming with them, then I'd love to see you!

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

According to the TSA the 11" MacBook air doesn't need to be removed from your carry on for the xray!

Have you tested this yet? I know it's in the official guidelines, but I'm cynical about the TSA's willingness to train individual agents to recognize and except one specific laptop.

The Burbank airport TSA rescreen my bag and admonished me for not removing the 11" Air. I gently pointed out that I was following the guidelines on their website and was told "That's only of it is the only thing in the bag" which kinda defeats the purpose. I won't need to rescreen in Seattle tonight so my next chance to test will be out of LAX in a couple of weeks.

Yeah, I kinda suspected that would happen (and you're right, that in a bag by itself yhing makes no sense).

I'm currently in the longest security line ever for an airport with only one flight!! I didn't realize this many people fit on a plane this size!!

The TSA kinda becomes a game for me at this point to see how totally inconsistent they can be.

I filled in a lot of out of towners at the wedding at how to avoid BWI's nekkid scanners and groping: just join the line for regular xrays. It's such a fucking joke and BWI was a pilot for these things.

I have yet to be scanned. It looks like Burbank isn't one of the airports that has them yet, so it didn't happen today. I'll be opting out if it does come up. Cancer killed my dad, I won't be giving it any help.

X-posted in Natter:

LA-istas! I am coming to your city soon and I would love to see you! My friend T. and I are flying in on the night of Jan. 9th and I'll be in town until the afternoon of the 13th. T. will be working a lot of the time, so I have a lot of time to fill! Basically, all day Monday and Monday evening, Tuesday day, Wednesday afternoon, possibly Wednesday evening, and Thursday day, or at least morning.

I just got off of chat with T. He said, "When we're in LA, why don't you get all the LA Buffistas together for a mini-F2F at our hotel?" He may have picked up some of the lingo after living with me all those years, hmm.

Anyway, that's not a bad idea, I guess, if the timing works out. We'll be staying at the Omni Los Angeles at California Plaza, 251 South Olive Street. I've never been to LA, so I have no idea where that is. But if you all want to do that, I've been told by a friend that the bar in that hotel is nice. But I'm also up for individual get-togethers, depending on folks' schedules. Let's plan!

Feel free to discuss in-thread, or contact me at my profile address.
