Actually, interesting fact for Cass & Jilli: Waterfire no longer exists. This was the last one ever. There is no need for you to consider attending such an event because it has gone bye-bye.
Even if we had those harness leashes you put on dangerously distractable/hyperactive children it wouldn't have been safe for you to go anyway. You'd have just pulled us into the river with you too.
As we walked along the riverbanks last night, Frankenbudha and I could just imagine cries of "GIANT CANDLES EVERWHERE!!!" and then splashing and crinolines and poor Pete stroking out. It's just not worth it.

SO beautiful. I only caught a tiny glimpse last night...I was walking out to my car, all ready to drive home, and I could SEE the torches flickering from the river and SMELL the woodsmoke and just couldn't resist running to the closest bridge and snapping a couple of quick pictures before I left. I really want to go on one of the boats next summer (people get to ride up and down the canal right next to all of the torches).

Portland Buffistas! I am currently nearing the end of my cross-country road trip with my friends T. and G. Right now, we are in Idaho, and we should be arriving in Portland tomorrow night. I would love to get together with any of you who are in town and are available!
I'll be in town until July 4th, and except for helping my friends get settled in their new house, so far I have no plans. My profile addy's good.

This is one of those weekends where you have plans, perfectly good plans that don't work out through no one's fault, but everyone's been adaptive and inventive and had the good time we all looked forward to.
