Juliana forwarded this to me, from the Best Western City Center in Philly.
Sounds great to me, really.
And I think everyone strikes their own balance between Buffista time and tourist time. I just figure that if I like the place a lot and want to see more, I'll go back some day.
Seattle Underground! Where we are pretty sure that the ghost one of the tour guides had described seeing...was Jilli.
I like trying to combine them. Seeing the Winchester Mystery House and the Haight *with* Buffistas was awesome.
In a way, a city without too much exciting stuff to do is almost ideal -- one or two cool outing options, a couple of great restaurants, and the rest of the time dedicated to tiaras and watching vids and hanging out and visiting.
My favorite F2F moments are almost all little or goofy things that could happen anywhere, provided there are enough of us: the long, lazy brunch at Plei and Paul's house; bowling in tiaras; the little Quiet Corner of companionable but non-talky people that happens at every single F2F, where a little cluster of Buffistas sits peaceably reading or knitting or just nursing a mug of coffee and listening to the chatty people chat.
Though I will to the end of my days regret that I missed the House on the Rock -- it looks so freaking amazing, and even if I ever do get there in person it probably won't be with a whole gaggle of Buffistas. That missed chance still pinches a little.
A lot of my favorite moments in SF were in the courtesy suite, JZ. Just hanging.
That and the car to the museum, where I got to sit on some very foamy laps.

Whaaaaat? Wait, I don't remember this story. Tell me!
I will copy it from my epic LJ post:
She also showed us one of the most haunted places in America, an underground bank vault. People would come in to get their money, but crooks were lurking in the shadows ready to kill and rob them before they could make it out. Jenny had never seen a ghost, but she'd experienced a bit of freakiness every now and then. And a friend of hers once saw a woman in a large petticoat, very Victorian-looking, just walking down the stairs.
We all looked at each other.
"Was it black and pink?" asked Laga. "Because that was probably our friend Jilli."
that was classic! And half the group was nodding (well, because half the tour was us!).
Hee! Okay, now I do remember that.
I posted about the Best Western previously. Scola mentioned that it got poor reviews on the travel sites. But if it looks good and the price is right (I don't know if that's a new and revised quote, or if it's the original?) then that's great.
