The status is NOT quo.

I completely agree that we should plan the F2F the summer before we actually have it, whatever time of year we decide to meet. People have tried to suggest this in the past, but it never seems to happen. I think a discussion about putting a process in place (whether a set F2F weekend or a set timeline for when we pimp, vote, etc.) is crucial, but I wonder if it should happen here. I feel like we may want to take that to B'crxy.

In any case, sj, that looks great so far. Thank you for doing what you've done, and Trudy too for NYC. I know Java is gone to England, but maybe someone could check into the hotels she'd found so far to do an initial pimp since localistas are busy until April?

We do need to decide what we are going to do with the vote results. Is the top date the automatic winner? I included the question about which dates people definitely couldn't come in case our mathy geniuses want to do some analysis to determine the date that the most people could actually attend, if those mathy types are so inclined. Or do we want to narrow down to the top 2-3 and do a final vote, which each city chiming in if there are restrictions for the winning dates?

I just want to know before we get the results on Sunday.

Because books.

I think java told the hotels she contacted to call/email me and/or Sox while she's away, but I'm not sure. And she never told me which hotels she contacted.

I will email her to follow up.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I think that last year we waited for the results to see if there was a clear winner, and when there wasn't, I ran the numbers through a Borda count and it came up with two or three options almost tied, so we voted on those.

(I don't remember how the ballot is set up this year, but last year there was a "Which is your first choice?" "Which is your second choice?" and so on, with each choice listed under each question, and Borda count means that, with four options, each first choice vote counts for four points, each second choice for three, and so on, and the one with the most points wins. We also had a question about which dates people couldn't make it, and subtracted points for each of those.)

I can look at the numbers and see what they show once they're in, but I think that, in the past, what's worked best is that, if there's one option that's well ahead of the rest, we go with that, but if there are several options that look like they have pretty close to the same number of votes, we have a runoff.

Works for me, Hil. This survey asks for the top three choices and then asks which dates people couldn't come (that question was unlimited).

Kristin, can you tell who voted? If so, did I vote on final dates?

Jury duty has me questioning everything.

ION, we did not finish deliberating today. Le sigh.

If Denver is considered mid, I'm willing to take what we learn here and start pimping after this F2F. (Nicole, Stephanie - wanna help?)
