So there is something I can do, besides scream like a woman?

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

There are all kinds of alone time, of course. Deffinately something to consider once we pick a city, pick a date, and start prom planning. I'm just pimping options.

megan-

Khan! You'll be staying just a couple of blocks from where I work. Except I'll be out of town next week. Boo, me!

FWIW, I will offer recommendations, because Rockville is not exactly an exciting town. If you like sandwiches, there is Roy's Place, which is dive-y but good. It's not bad dive-y but it's not fancy by any stretch. It's worth going just to read the menu. There is also nummy dim sum to be had at lunchtime here. Both are within a 15-30 min. drive of your hotel, depending on traffic/time of day. And they're cheap and more interesting than going to someplace generic, I think.

Oh, and going southish, you're near Rockville Town Square which has all this. Obviously there's tons of stuff in DC, too, but if you just want to run out for a meal at least you'll know what's nearby.

I hope you have a good trip! And I'm bummed that I won't be around that week.

Lunch in Rockville-- urban BBQ! Or the Cuban place! Or crisp and juicy! Nomnomnom. Or pho. Or Korean. Or salvadoran. Or the argentinian empanada place! Or koshermart! ....can you tell I used to work there and liked to eat out at cheap places?

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Mmmm, Roy's place. (sorry, I have nothing else to add)

Because books.

I can try to get Philly pimped this week, but I really doubt it's going to happen -- I've got about seven thousand things going on this week between the kids and work.

Thanks Strega! I don't know Rockville at all, but I did go to school in DC and lived in NoVa for 3 years after that, so I otherwise know the area. But I'm only there overnight anyway.

But thanks for the Roy's recommendation because I'm pretty sure I won't pass anything interesting on the way from the airport and I'll need to pick up dinner somewhere.

not your mom's socks.

yeah Amy - the snow closings (6 days? really SIX SNOW DAYS in two weeks is enough already) killed me - and work has gone... actually there's no word I know of for this level of nuttiness. Want to collaborate ?

Our wings are not tired.

I can definitely write to Philly hotels to see about group rates and stuff, would that help? I have stayed downtown several times and have a fairly good idea of the layout.

Because books.

It would, java, if you're offering. I've got freelance work and Daisies stuff this week, and we had two snow days last week, plus Sara now looks to have an ear infection. And then there's a book deadline looming.

Sox, I feel you! ::clings::
