I've officially applied to move to production (conveniently located on the same floor, although this would mean working on all humanities and social sciences titles rather than just languages), and at the same time realized I am being groomed for a marketing field position in my group.
Relatedly, it looks like I will be in Dallas for a presentation on the 12th. I will probably arrive late afternoon on the 11th if anyone is up for dinner on a Thursday night.
The 12th of what?
February. Am I forgetting plans or something?

Cool. I had a feeling I was forgetting something while our marketing manager was asking me about the dates. It is also the week I will probably be interviewing for the other position. Given that current big boss and potential new boss have offices next to each other, I'm sure that week will be interesting, to say the least.

If we're considering NY, we might want to look into hotels in Hoboken. It's just a few minutes from Hoboken into the city on the PATH, and I would bet that the hotels would be a lot cheaper.
And Hoboken has the highest density of bars of any American city apparently.
There aren't very many hotels in Hoboken, and they aren't cheap. The same goes for Jersey City.
I know there are a few motels right at the mouth of the Holland Tunnel, but I'm guessing we might not want to stay in them.
