am certain that it's the people, not the location, that make it so great. I could hang out in a CVS store in Lincoln, NE, with most of you, and have a better time than in the center of NYC with just about anyone.
Since I haven't been to the past couple-few F2Fs, I'm wondering if making sure the city has decent public transportation is still an issue? (I just remember it being that way from F2Fs past, since not everyone drives or will rent a car.)
Obv. NYC has the public transportation angle covered.
I don't think anyone used the pubtrans in Madison, and we were kind of on the outskirts of town. Everyone (except me and Cashmere, 'cause our hotel was a couple of miles away) just walked.

Apparently I do not know how to "lurk".

Cool. I didn't remember hearing a whole lot of stories akin to "And then Steph had to get off the train because she was so hungover that she had to puke into a trash can!" (true story), so I was wondering if it was that important any more.
One thing that came up in a conversation this weekend (can't remember who I was talking to) is that many locales with cheaper hotels are also that much more expensive/difficult to fly into. Between three major airports, you can get to NYC from *anywhere*.
This was me I believe. I also feel like NYC is good for good food at various price points.
But, if I go to the East Coast, it will probably have to be late July for various family things so, like java, I feel I should abstain from the picking-a-place discussion.

I laugh because the reason I didn't even attempt to go to Roscoe's in LA this weekend was because I feared getting sick in someone's car.
and even pretty basic hotels way out in Brooklyn were more than we usually spend.
Though from my limited experience in Brooklyn Heights, that area is AWESOME. Especially the Chip Shop. Thanks again, Tom.
It's also a pigsty, and has a horrible bed bug reputation.
Well, my experience wasn't "pigsty" at all, but a bed bug rep seems reasonable for knocking it out of contention.
Teachers can't really ask for days off at the beginning of September, fwiw. Asking for days off at all is tricky, but next to impossible in fall. Since I doubt we can come anyway, though, it probably won't affect me specifically.

Yes, this. I get 2 personal days for the entire school year.
