Yay Nora in town! Sunday the 4th is probably better for me.

Plan what to do, what to wear (you can never go wrong with a corset), and get ready for the next BuffistaCon.
-t. & Nora, I want to take a couple of weekdays off in Sept. and Oct. anyway to camp again at my new favorite spot above Calistoga. Trip-combining that with meeting up somewhere in Napa would be awesome. Is it feasible to meet for dinner (or dessert and coffee) on 10/8 in Calistoga?
eta or do you mean Napa the town, not Napa the county?
We will be in Napa the county- our B&B is actually in Calistoga.
On the 8th we have a 7:30pm reservation at Cyrus in Healdsburg and will likely be at the Bear Republic brewpub (also in Healdsburg, just down the street) for an hour or so previous to that.
We are starting the day with a 10am tour of the Schramsberg vineyards and are hoping to also hit Cakebread and Honig, and Silverado Brew House if there is time before getting to Healdsburg by around 6.
However, there is of course flexibility! maybe we could do lunch or a cocktail hour beer or other beverage? Or meet up at one of the vineyards or brewpubs? I am open to any suggestions on the day. Schramsberg in the morning and Healdsburg in the evening are pretty set, and I'd really like to hit Cakebread (because I love white wines) but really, we'll be exploring.

Mmmm, bubbly!
and are hoping to also hit Cakebread
Mmmm, Chardonay!
For anyone traveling in or out of DC this weekend, be aware that the National Airport (DCA) Metro stop will be closed from Friday until Tuesday morning. DCistas, they're also closing the Pentagon City and Crystal City stops.
Toddson, why are they doing that?
They're doing some work - replacing track, new switches, etc.
(and screwing with travelers is fun)
On Labor Day weekend they're doing this? Oy.
Indeed. Many people have pointed this out.
BUT ... there was a major accident on June 22 and they're still doing investigations and trying to bring the system up to modern safety standards (a lot of the equipment is from when it was new - back in 1970-something).

Faboo! Calistoga is AWESOME.
I guess you know that Healdsburg is a white-knuckle drive over the mountain on Mark West Springs Road just to get to into Sonoma County, then north up Rte. 101 a piece, yes? It's about a 45 minutes drive away from Calistoga, I think? The good news is that much of Mark West Springs Road has been repaved recently so it isn't quite as scary or dangerous as it was. I try not to drive that road in the dark myself.
ETA: Just Googlemapped. There's an alternative that I'm not familiar with that looks easy, 128. So that's good!
I'm a white wine person myself. IMHO, if you are headed over into Sonoma County, Navarro [link] and Husch [link] are the two best wineries up there. YWWMV.
So...something on the 8th isn't likely to work. What about the 9th?
eta, also t-, what were you thinking of doing?
