Spike: I'm not a monster. Xander: Yes! You are a monster. Vampires are monsters! They make monster movies about them! Spike: Well, yeah. Got me there.

Embrace the idea that we are the leaders we've been looking for. Grace Lee Boggs

So, who wants to come to Seattle and Ride the SLUT?

I saw an ad, and assumed it was fake.

(OK, TECHNICALLY it's not called the SLUT. It's the South Lake Union Streetcar, I think.

Sadness.

But it's more FUN to call it the SLUT.)

Well, yeah.

The more I read, the more I like the Seattle idea.

"I've got a gun! I've got a mother-flippin' gun!" - Moss, The IT Crowd

Meara, if it's called a streetcar now, that is only their attempt to change the acronym because, yes, they did manage to launch the service as a SLUT.

And the damage is done. It'll always be known as the SLUT so their attempts to change it are doubly feeble. Then again that sounds like our city council to a tee.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

And the damage is done. It'll always be known as the SLUT so their attempts to change it are doubly feeble.

I am reminded Tesco's decision to rename Spotted Dick "Spotted Richard".

I mean, yes, okay, dick, ho ho - but it's so totally well-known that mostly you don't think "Penis! Penis! Ho ho ho!" ...until you find yourself staring at "Spotted Richard", think "WTF???" and then make a mental translation, and then think "OMGWTFSPOTTEDPENIS!"

As successful renaming ventures go, it's akin to Dick Van Dyke deciding to change his name to Richard Van WomanWithComfortableShoes.

...All of which is a verbose way of saying that I'd love to ride the SLUT in Seattle.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

And Juliana, I hope you won't take my description of Port Townsend as offensive, especially since I used the same term for my own town.

Oh, heck no. I've not even been there, I just think it's hilarious that he was mayor.

Oh, hey. We were going to do a poll or somesuch, right? I'll get to that today.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

Riding the SLUT? Muppet exhibit at the Sci Fi museum? I am *so* down with Seattle. Plus, the only other time I've been it was a freaky 97 degree day and Plei and Jilli and I spent the day moving as quickly as possible between air-conditioned shops, then had ice cream w/ my friend Judy. Which was a lovely day, but I'd like to go back.

I also adore Portland.

And, hey, Fay - I've got a friend in the US foreign service whose next post is Thailand... I just might have to see if I could swing a trip. When's a good time to visit, keeping in mind that I do pretty well with humid heat?

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

I'm kind of chuffed because, whatever we decide, it's looking like this will be the first F2F in a city I've never been to (or even lived in) before.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

I'm creating a poll for possible dates - I put in all the weekends of June (observing that June 19-21 covers Juneteenth, Father's Day, and Solstice), and the last weekend of May. Any other dates that I should put in?

And do we want to ask a question about Seattle vs. Portland, or should we leave that until voting time?

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

If we have it on Juneteenth, that's my birthday!

Ahem.

I mean, bah. Father's day. Who needs it, right?
