I went ahead and bought my 6am Richmond to BWI ticket because there were only three seats left at the cheap price (what the hell, that is 55 days away, who is booking all those seats?) and when I checked if going to the other station would be better those tickets were twice as much. I don't begin to understand any of that.
And I will probably get a chance to hang out in the Metropolitan Lounge in DC waiting for that 10pm departure. I was hoping I'd be able to visit one of those somewhere. Whee!
-t, remind me of your schedule? When are you reaching Richmond?
Baltimoreans, DC-ites, anyone else who is interested, slight change of plans! I’ll be getting to DC 8 pm on 4/29. If anyone wants to meet up then I guess we can try but I expect I will be pretty tired and spacey. I’m willing to be social but I may not be very coherent, is what I’m saying. I *do* have a room in Silver Springs and all day Thursday 4/30 open, so please suggest fun things to do especially if they involve seeing any of y’all!
Hey! I can for sure do something 4/30 for, like brunch or lunch, though I have a class that night. I can drive out to Silver Spring no prob. Anything in particular you'd like to do, or is it more of a hang and chill vibe?
Awesome! I have no idea, probably hang and chill but seeing sights maybe? I know there are a lot of sights to see. But I’m not burning for anything in particular
I am, btw, settled at Maison St Charles until Monday, have unpacked and put stuff in drawers and everything. I’m right by the pool which I will probably not use but I guess it’s nice to theoretically have the option. This place is more of a compound than a building, it may take up the whole block. Pretty nice room for being in my price range, although there are not very many outlets and I could use a stepladder to get on the beds (not provided, I’ll just have to jump or something). I do want to go walk around the neighborhood but I’m super tired so I will probably just shower and change and eat at the attached Mr Ed’s. We’ll see how early I wake up tomorrow, the Fest doesn’t start until 11, I can probably get some nostalgic wandering in
Very preliminary googling shows that there's a free 50-acre garden in Silver Spring/Wheaton -- Brookside Gardens [link] Depending on weather, obvi.
Tons of good restaurants around, so the world is your oyster. Or taco. Or bibim bap. You get the idea.
I'll check for other options, too. It'll be like a "check out your own local area day... " I'm never in Silver Spring.
Ooh, that all sounds fun!
I have wined and fined and will now soak in the tub while listening to Midnight Burger. We’ll see if I stay awake. If not, I can always listen to it again…
