Gunn: The final score can't be rigged. I don't care how many players you grease, that last shot always comes up a question mark. But here's the thing. You never know when you're taking it. It could be when you're duking it out with the Legion of Doom, or just crossing the street deciding where to have brunch. So you just treat it like it was up to you—the world in balance—'cause you never know when it is.

not your mom's socks.

Is anyone going to BEA/BookCon in NYC in late May?

Also I'm in Chicago for the Nebula thing, first weekend in June. Will be under a pile of SFWA cookbooks, mostly, but would love to see you.

There are some rumblings about me being in CA and other west-coast-like places come fall. Will keep you posted. See also (meep) MA, ME, NH, ...

(this isn't public yet. just heads up for b.org)

Punishingly Intricate

I'm down with el jefe!! What time works for you all? My schedule is completely open that day. Bob has meetings until about 5:30. I'm pretty sure he works in the same building you do, Shrift!

I posted this on FB, but I wanted to post it here as well to see if others are interested in the June-August departure for this Ireland Vacation with Airfare Dublin and Galway deal: [link]

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Wow, that's a great deal.

Wow, that looks like an awesome deal, shrift! I'm sadfacing that I don't have the time or cash to take advantage of it. The only part of Ireland I ever saw was the airport in Shannon. The countryside around it was gorgeous, the greenest I'd ever seen.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

That is so tempting, but I think my boss would kill me if I took a third big vacation this year.

The status is NOT quo.

I’m in a quandary. I know some people would like to gather in LA to celebrate ita’s life, but it sounds like a lot of people won’t be able to come. I also am trying to finalize my own summer plans, so I need to know for sure where we stand. I’d like to visit my dad in Florida, and I want to buy those plane tickets as soon as possible.

I don’t know if it makes sense to set something up this summer given how tenuous everyone’s plans are, so I guess I’m asking -- how serious are people about wanting to come out? And would a weekend in August be easier than July? Or should we postpone to some time this winter once a year has passed?

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

I personally wouldn't be able to come in either July or August. I have other travel in July, and in August I'll be back in the Midwest.

I would love to come, but I'd have to see how I'm feeling closer to the date.
