Death is your art. You make it with your hands day after day. That final gasp, that look of peace. And part of you is desperate to know: What's it like? Where does it lead you? And now you see, that's the secret. Not the punch you didn't throw or the kicks you didn't land. She really wanted it. Every Slayer has a death wish. Even you.

I'm just tossing some ideas out so we can start thinking about what we want to put in our face holes. No rush.

You know, I keep confusing this trip (which is 2 weeks away) with my Vermont trip (which is 1 week away). I keep thinking I need everything all sorted out for Chicago, but I have some time.

(I would really prefer to not be traveling back to back -- basically, I get home from Vermont on a Monday and go to Chicago on Thursday of that week -- but that's how everything shook out.)

meara and I had a tiny F2F in KC today! She's in town on business, so we just went to dinner (BBQ, natch.) It was SO LOVELY to see a BUffista!

We talked about...books, duh. And girls.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I gots my ticket for the Avengers thingie!

It looks like we still have to pick a place to eat? I loved the Farmhouse when we were there last year, but I haven't eaten at any of the other places shrift listed. I do eat a lot of BBQ here in Highland Park, and sushi is OK for me but I have a slight preference for non-BBQ and non-sushi, so I'd prefer one of the last three shrift listed:

Hub 51: [link]

Farmhouse (Consuela's bro co-owns): [link]

How about Hub 51? Their menu looks really good, and I like that there's a wide variety of options.

Hub 51 has a wide variety on the menu (including a gluten free menu). I've eaten there a few times and the food was good. Also they have a drinks menu if people only can come for a little while. Also also, I have gift cards so I may be able to subsidize dinner.

I can make a reservation. How many people do we have and what time should we meet? 5:30?

I'll be available any time after 5, so that works for me.

Is Hub51 a place that will judge me for wearing my Captain America t-shirt and jeans? I mean, I'm still wearing them, but I want to be prepared.

Chicago-istas, while you're in here, I'll be in your town May 11-13. Would love to meet up for lunch or drinks if anyone is available. We'll be at the Monaco.
