Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

I'd love to come down if you have a gathering, just not the weekend of Feb 6-8; I've got weekend tickets to the comic con here. If I have to miss a gathering of Chicagoistas, though, I will still raise a drink in your direction.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Given the thoughts about a gathering in July in LA for ita, I'm rethinking cabin plans a little. Maybe I'll throw out an Open House week in August and all who care to are welcome. That does have the advantage of being during Ren Faire time (20 minutes away!).

Chicago-istas: I will be in town Thursday, April 30, for work. I fly in that afternoon, and have meetings the next day and then fly back home that same day. (Probably.)

I'm staying at the Palomar, and will be free for drinks/dinner Thursday. (I'm SUPER tempted to round people up for a midnight showing of Avengers, because it opens May 1, but my husband might kill me if I see it without him, and also, I don't think a midnight movie is a great idea with a 7:30 a.m. meeting the next day, damn it).

Anyway, it's a little while off, so no need to make plans at this point; I just wanted to throw the date out there since I know it now.

t edit Dang, I just looked at the website for the hotel, and I feel like a hayseed, because that place looks swanky as hell. They provide you with a yoga mat in every room! (Not that I'll be doing yoga. Or maybe I will!)

Yay! Will block it off. There's lots of options in that area.

Yay! The Palomar! We usually stay at the Monaco (another Kimpton) when we're in town but Bob was just at the Palomar this week.

I think the Palomar is about a quarter-mile from the AMA offices, so that's where they have people stay. Yippee!
