Hello, all. Sorry for not posting here earlier, but I got sucked to a full time job right after landing (though it was really good for taming my jet lag).
I uploaded today most of my pictures (the rest are in the cell phone. I need to experiment with replacing sim cards and hope for the best, because there's no other way to get them out of there - no option to connect a usb). They're here: [link]
But uploading and posting here is honestly just an excuse to try and find the words to thank you again. I still cant believe I got this miracle vacation. I still can't believe I was so lucky to meet so many of you. I had the greatest time. And thank you so much for this. I truly needed that.
(Edited: fixed link. Hopefully)
Link works! Beautiful pictures.
Yay! I was great to meet you, Shir. Plus it was great to see some of the LAistas. We need to plan more get togethers, I like us.
I was so sorry I couldn't hang out with peeps, but the weekend was All Wedding, All The Time.
We need to plan more get togethers, I like us.
This! I mean, seriously, I don't think we have ever had an LAista gathering for all of us at the same time since I moved here in 2005. We're just so busy, but that's no excuse.
It was a great lil party!
So... I'm mostly a lurker (pretty much 100% these days) but I still think of y'all whenever I think of visiting somewhere new.
I'm heading to Portland (Oregon) for 5 days for a conference and wondering if anyone has suggestions (ie can't miss sights other than Powell's Books and voodoo doughnuts) or advice. It's my first time visiting the states and my first totally solo trip (ie don't even know anyone at the destination) so I'm feeling kinda nervous and could use some buffista advice.
Thanks!
Also, if anyone did want to meet up (I love my local-istas and it'd be great to meet some more) I'm free all day tomorrow and most evenings (leaving Sunday am)
Portland is beautiful, Helena. I would say if you can spend time on one of the rivers, that's a great way to pass the time there. Cass lived there a few years ago, I bet she has more recs.
Foodcarts is a big one, in Portland. Erin is out current buffista there but I think she's soon various surgery and recovery for the next couple months.
