Plan what to do, what to wear (you can never go wrong with a corset), and get ready for the next BuffistaCon.
Landed in Israel. Already miss you.
Welcome home, Shir! Miss ya too!
WRT AirBnB, the other issue is taxes. Many cities charge a higher hotel tax. It's an easy tax to pass, as it's only for folks visiting your city. Which are typically folks who do not vote in your city. With ABNB, they are not charging those higher taxes, and the city is missing some extra revenue. (there have been a couple stories on it on the local NPR here in Los Angeles).
I can't imagine our area without something like AirBnB. Out of curiosity I checked my city, which isn't that big. It just says 1000+ listings, so I don't know how many. I haven't heard any complaints from the hotels, or taxing authorities, but then again I avoid local news like the plague. It has always been such a part of life in a big resort area that it just seemed normal to me.
eta: looking closer they don't just include my city, but the whole area pretty much
I will be in RI for my 10 year college reunion (note: this means that the DC F2F was 10 years ago. You're welcome), and then in NYC starting late Sunday for a few days.
It's all very free-form (apart from Official University Events), so, yeah, I'd love to see people as availability allows.
Where are you staying in NYC?
Debet, this weekend?
Tom, crashing with Trudy.
sj, yup.
We have a wedding all day Saturday. We could possibly do something on Sunday if you're not leaving for NY too early.
Coolcool. Lunchish, maybe? Do you have my phone number?
