(Sorry for the double post)

Perhaps at Chicago Diner? During the day, the best I could do would be to give you a tour of the theatre if you're interested.

Aurelia, both suggestions sounds great. Thank you!

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

The Chicago Diner is fabulous. Get the poutine.

Chicago is known for great deep-dish pizza. And I'm sure you can get some without meat and not too spicy. Also Pierogis which are dumplings stuffed with potato. (sometimes meat too, but vegetarian and non-spicy should be doable.)

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Dcp, you're coming to town? Awesome.

I would totally take aurelia up on that tour. The show at the Goodman right now seems awesome too.

I may need to go to the cottage on Friday for Internet putting in. You or anyone are welcome if it's of interest. But my dad might be able to cover it.

I also have the benefit on Saturday night - link below. It will be awesome and for an awesome cause, but a little spendy. a Sox or Cubs game could be a lot of fun too if cheap tix can be found.

Rockin' for Rescue: [link]

VIP Ticket: Exclusive VIP experience beginning at 6:30pm includes a behind the scenes look at the stadium from the tunnels out onto the warning track and dugout with a professional photographer capturing the moment with the JUMBOTRON as your backdrop. With gaming chips in your pocket you'll be escorted back to the Stadium Club where your night of food, drinks, gambling and dancing will begin. ($200)

In the past few years, TAF has assisted in paying over 2,500 homeless animals' medical bills and with the success of Rockin' for Rescue: Vegas-Style, TAF will be able to save even more lives. Please come out and join us for a night that you will never forget!

Kirstin, great pictures! The Huntington looks beautiful; makes me sorry I've never made it there.

Looks like the only day I'm available for Chicago will be Saturday. I was hoping for tomorrow, but the fronline is a little slim and I've been having to cover it more than I normally do. The pitfalls of being the boss: two stations, three people. Empty station means I have to come out of my cave and answer phones/greet people. Ugh.

Anyway, I'd love to do some of the touring (any of it, actually) that dcp mentioned. Can't afford the fancy charity do in the evening, my cat is emptying my purse rapidly with all his tests and meds.

I love Chicago museums. There's the Art Institute, where you can see "A Sunday on La Grande Jatte." The Museum of Science and Industry is in the only remaining building from the 1893 Columbian Exposition. There you can visit a coal mine, a real German U-boat and a recreation of a 1910 Chicago street, plus see a lot of wacky inventions. Unfortunately, the website says the Colleen Moore dollhouse is closed at the moment. The Field Museum of Natural History has dinosaurs!, plus scads of archeological and biological exhibits. The two science museums are both among the largest in the world.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

And adjacent to the Field Museum is the Shedd Aquarium and the Adler Planetarium. The Field Museum's Sue recently got a bath. I have no idea how you bathe a T-rex skeleton but apparently they figured out a way.

The Art Institute, Field, Adler, and Shedd are all pretty centrally located. On a nice day it's a lovely walk through Grant Park between the Art Institute and the museum campus. The Museum of Science and Industry is on the south side and requires a little more planning to get there.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Dang, it's 10 years since I've been to Chicago and visited all the museums. Y'all are making me want to go back.
