So, I just learned that the David Eyre's Pancake is not just from the hippy kids' cookbook that I make it out of, but is actually a Craig Claiborne recipe! [link] AKA Dutch Baby.

I had nightmares last night. I don't really remember them except McCain's head kept floating around. Guess I shouldn't watch the debates
sorry to hear about Paul Newman
So sad, though not unexpected, about Paul Newman.
My mother the RN and I were discussing the debates last night, discussing McCain's health, comparing his behavior in 2008 to his behavior in 2000, and we both agreed McCain is acting much like my step-grandfather did after his TIAs. Scary.
Well, fuckity. I'm so sad about Paul Newman! My heart goes out to Joann.
Dutch Baby
I love these! I'm going to have to dig into my mom's back issues of CI, there was a recipe for them in there. It's what I usually order whenever we go to the Original Pancake House.
Speaking of CI, I'm planning on making deep dish pizzas for dinner tonight. Though I just discovered I don't have 1/2 cup of olive oil. I hope I can still make it tasty, because I'm (relatively) just back from the ER and I'm cocooning today.
Do you have the Buffista cookbook, Sail? It's in there too, under German Pancake. (I have to quibble with calling it a Craig Claiborne recipe - it's been around forever in various incarnations.)

Well, the cookbook I have calls it David Eyre's Pancake, which is what Claiborne called it in that article. If the hippies had called it a dutch baby, I wouldn't have said that.

That's good to know! I do have the cookbook. I'll have to see if I have everything I need and try it out tomorrow. Although, I'm not sure I have the right kind of pan for it. I don't have a good cast iron skillet and I'm not sure my calphalon should go in the oven.
You can use a pie plate, if you have one.
Excellent! I will try that.
