I checked each county or equivalent I've lived in. Biggest surprise -- the county where I grew up, which I remember as a Republican stronghold (except for the black community in the second largest town), went for Obama 64% to 35%.

Yeah, the short version on the ballot doesn't sound so bad, but the long version really indicates the breadth of the restrictions.
I was actually surprised that McCain/Palin only won by 60/40 in my county. But you can't judge by yard sign percentages alone.

The county I grew up in went 77+% for McCain - MORE Repub than in 2004. It is also 96% white, which - wow.
The county I live in now went 74+% for Obama - MORE Dem than in 2004. It is 55% white, which is no surprise.
