To be fair, it is easier to cheer for a defeated opponent than a victorious one.
It's just as easy to diss a defeated opponent too and given how ugly the campaign got, it wouldn't have surprised me. I'm glad I was surprised the other way.

I am so thankful for the opportunity to listen to a speech by a leader who can make me tear up with joy and hope instead of cringing in dread or seething in contempt. I'm going to have to retrain myself to listen to State of the Union addresses.
