I actually don't think it's a bad idea. I don't think all republicans are wrongheaded crackpots with idiot opinions and I think some have important ideas and experience to offer with some policies.

Colin Powell, for example, would be great in the cabinet.

I am Kat.

I seriously think that the Traditional Old School Conservatives need to start a new party free from the Moron Majority Cultural Conservatives.

All the sane, cool conservatives deserve to have a place to hang their hat that's not covered with mud, you know?

And Plei. Dudes, I am, therefore, AWESOME!

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

From Wikipedia:

Each state has a number of electors equal to the number of its Senators and Representatives in the United States Congress. Additionally, Washington, D.C. is given a number of electors equal to the number held by the "least populous" state. U.S. territories are not represented in the Electoral College.

[...]

The Constitution allows each state legislature to designate a method of choosing electors. Forty-eight states and the District of Columbia have adopted a winner-take-all popular vote rule where voters choose between statewide slates of electors pledged to vote for a specific presidential and vice presidential candidate. The candidate that wins the most votes in the state wins the support of all of that state’s electors. The two other states, Maine and Nebraska, use a tiered system where a single elector is chosen within each Congressional district and two electors are chosen by statewide popular vote. U.S. presidential elections are effectively an amalgamation of 51 separate and simultaneous elections (50 states plus the District of Columbia), rather than a single national election.

No prob. I may be a leetle obsessive today (7 tabs of coverage up and counting). At least until I go to get my root canal, but I'll have Twitter up and tracking during that. Anything to distract me from the drilling.

information libertarian

Billytea, others, what sites do you recommend following? I am at work on a public desk, so no sound, and due to the computer settings (that I do not control) sometimes video doesn't stream in any case. Where's good?

(Besides here, natch.)

Laughing Squid's got a pretty long blogroll. I've got FiveThirtyEight up, of course, but also Daily Kos, CNN, the Guardian UK, and HuffPo.

I voted around 11:30 and there was no line at all. Then I went to the Farmer's Market and it had lots of people in Obama-wear.

"They're only voting for Obama so they can have free welfare."

Welfare in the classic sense ended during the Clinton administration. Could we send these people to the Wizard to get brains?

Ok guys, I'm up and logged in to a half dozen or so election websites. Go ahead and elect Senator Government.

See, billy-- we waited for you!

Any Chicagoistas who can't bear to watch the results come in and need a break tonight can get half-off tickets for Jersey Boys, Wicked, or Dirty Dancing tonight. And you'll be downtown afterwards for the festivities at Grant Park!
