Punishingly Intricate

So, I was looking through the 2008 MacArthur fellows (one of them works here) and I see that Regina Benjamin is one- she is a phenomenal physician that NPR did a lot of coverage on post-Katrina.

Oh, rad! I was wondering about her when I saw the list. I love the ones where you know the grant has the potential to make a huge difference not only in the recipient's life but in many lives.

I think I may try duct tape.

Is there nothing that duct tape can't fix?

That made me think about checking my DVR but apparently the ip address for my router has changed. Bother.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Happy Birthday, Nilly!!! I hope you have a wonderful day.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Oddly enough, duct tape isn't very good at taping ducts. It dries out and loses its stickiness.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

duct tape isn't very good at taping ducts.

Many building codes prohibit using duct tape on ducts these days.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Back from the interview where the recruiter seemed really excited about placing me and seemed to think my prospects were really good. ::crosses fingers::

Of course, they nearly all say that, since it comes with the job, but still I can use a little ego-boo, and realistically, if I want to get some resume credits for .NET developing, getting a bottom-rung position at a bottom-rung company may be the way to go.

Since I was done by 9 AM, I wandered over to the nearby Borders, where a friendly staffer helped me find the very last copy of the Pushing Daisies box set in the store. He made sure that I knew that Alan Ball was also responsible for other wonderful shows, so I told him their names and reassured him I not only knew about them, I already owned them.

(One week and one day until the season premiere!!!1!)

Obviously, duct tape technology needs to be improved.

Obviously, duct tape technology needs to be improved.

Some conspiracy theorists have asserted that when the alien spacecraft crashed at Roswell, the US military managed to reverse-engineer alien duct tape technology. But since this is top-secret, only the most important military facilities have their ducts taped with alien duct tape.
