"What kind of magical sunshine and lollipop world do you live in? Because you need to be medicated."-SFist

I wonder what the criteria for nerd-adjacent would be?

Also, I love any article that mentions Encyclopedia Brown!

Hmmm, perhaps I have just answered my own question.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Special link for tommyrot: Neil Young converted his 1959 Lincoln Continental to run on electricity and natural gas. He's also created a business called LincVolt that will convert other cars.

Coding and Sleeping

Were they nerd parties? Because you could make up points there.

No, definitely not nerd parties, a good number who broken up by the police. But wait... I was a perennial designated driver and one time I helped a naked, drunk girl get all her clothes back and wrapped her in my coat so she could warm up.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Let's see:

Liked Computers - Big nerd points

Picked on by Jocks - A little. But then I ended up in a lot of college prep classes with a lot of Jocks, so they came to like me. Loss of points.

Picked on the nerdier - No. Score.

Athletic Teams - None. Nerd points scored.

Member of Math Club and College Bowl - We had no College Bowl. Was in Math Club, had the highest score in school in math competion, placed second amongs all middle-sized schools in Central Wisconsin - lots o' nerd points.

Parties? - No. One party, on graduation day. Lots of nerd points.

Played D&D - No. No nerd points.

Dates - Had steady girlfriend for year and a half. Nerd points lost.

Glasses - Yes. Small score.

Excellent Grades - Yes. Score.

What about band? Score a few nerd points there.

I think I fall pretty much in the middle of the nerd scale.

Heh. I've heard about that a long time ago. Been waiting for him to finish it, so I could see pictures.

Young found himself behind the wheel of a 1959 Lincoln Continental Mark IV convertible. At 2 1/2 tons and 19 1/2 feet long, it was the longest car built in its era.

Bah. It's about 5400 lbs, so more than 2 1/2 tons. 18' 11' long (I know because I had a damn hard time finding a garage big enough. My current garage has about 1 1/2" to spare, when I park it with the tail fins touching the back wall.)

His car is in way-nice shape, but the non-original hubcaps bug me.

Art Crawl!!!

ita, Code-9 thread at TWOP. Apparently, it's more AU/scifi than regular spy stuff.

Now tagless for your comfort.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Starbucks is handing out free coffee on November 4th to voters.

If my precinct doesn't give out stickers, how will they know??

[edit: Apparently they're going on the honor system:

the coffee chain says customers just need to come in and say that they voted in order to redeem their brew on Nov. 4 at any of its U.S. locations.]
